MBA New Students - IT and Email

Student email accounts

As a Monash student you are granted a computer account, called an Authcate account. This is your main access to the university IT facilities.

Access to your Authcate account is subject to a university policy called the Acceptable Use of Information Technology Facilities by Students. This includes information regarding internet usage and copyright infringement. While setting up your account, you will be asked to read the terms and conditions of this policy and agree to them. It is essential that all students understand their obligations in regard to the Acceptable Use Policy, as failure to comply can result in disciplinary action.

You can get your Authcate computer account online by going to: www.monash.edu.au/students/computer/ and selecting the Register for a new account link.

Access your email

Access to email is available as soon as you set up your Authcate account. Monash uses an email system called WebMail which allows you to access your Monash emails from a computer on the internet anywhere in the world.

Accessing your email is simple and is available through https://mail.monash.edu.au or the my.monash portal.

Forwarding your student email account

You can forward your student email account to another email address if you prefer, however please remember to amend your student account redirection should you change employment or service provider. To forward emails to a non-Monash account:

Access your WebMail via: mail.monash.edu.au

  • Click on Options, then Forwarding and Delivery - this will open a new window
  • Enter your Authcate username and password again
  • Click on Email Delivery
  • Enter your preferred address in the Forwarding Address box
  • Select Forward emails to the address above
  • Click on Submit Changes then close this window.

Once forwarded emails leave your mailbox in the university system, Monash cannot guarantee their delivery and copies of sent emails will not be kept. http://www.its.monash.edu.au/students/email/about.html#forward

my.monash Portal

The university-wide intranet portal, my.monash, provides all students, whether on-campus, at home or work, with an immediate gateway to Monash's online resources, including lectures, study timetables, library resources and email.

ITS Service Desk

Caulfield ITS is located in the Service Centre, on Queens Avenue opposite the Central Common. The branch supports computing platforms ranging from high end Unix servers to Microsoft Windows based microcomputers.

Branch Staff are available to help with enquiries from 8.00am to 8.30pm Monday to Thursday, and 8.00am - 6.00pm on Fridays during semester and exams. During Non teaching periods the Service Desk is open from 9.00am - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. A current student or staff ID card is required for all enquiries. Selected Caulfield computer labs do currently open on weekends from 9.00am to 5.00pm (K Block only), with lab T1.25 being available for 24-hour general access.
