Changes to personal details

Information regarding all changes to your personal details can be found here: http://adm.monash.edu/enrolments/variations/changes-personal.html

This includes changes to:

  • name
  • Address
  • Residency/citizen status

It is your responsibility to keep your personal details up to date.

Intermission (official leave of absence)

Students who are enrolled and subsequently wish to take a break in their studies may apply for an intermission of up to 12 months. In granting this leave a place in the course is reserved for the student when the intermission has ended providing that the student re-enrols during the designated periods.

Discontinuation

To discontinue from your course please complete and enrolment amendment form from the Reception desk.

Alternative exit options - once you have complete four units you can exit early with a Graduate Certificate in Business, and after 8 units a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration.

Course progression

There are five foundation units that should be completed before the more advanced units are undertaken. These are:

  • MBA9002 The legal environment of business
  • MBA9003 Economics for business
  • MBA9004 Accounting for business
  • MBA9007 Business analysis
  • MBA9008 Managing and leading people at work

It is advisable that you complete these core units before you enrol in any of the MBA electives. An Academic Advisor will assist you to select your electives best suited to address your personal and professional aspirations.  Your choice of electives will involve consideration of your career management strategy discussed later in this document.

At the next level it is recommended that, before you enrol in MBA9005 Corporate finance, you have already completed MBA9003 Economics, MBA9004 Accounting for business and MBA9007 Business analysis.  Before you enrol in MBA9006 Marketing you should have previously completed MBA9003 Economics for managers, MBA9004 Accounting for business and MBA9008 Managing and leading people at work.  Before you enrol in MBA9010 Supply chain & operations management you should have already completed MBA9002 The legal environment of business, MBA9003 Economics for managers and MBA9008 Managing and leading people at work.

There are two capstone, MBA5005 Strategic management and MBA9050 International business, that should not be undertaken until you have completed all eight of the previously stated MBA core units.

Unit Materials

Unit binders will be distributed in the first class of that unit, unless the lecturer has advised us that there is pre-reading, and in this case binders can be picked up from the MBA reception only on the specified days. Otherwise, material may be available online.

Changing your enrolment

Adding or discontinuing units can be made via WES https://my.monash.edu.au/wes/

Adding: An on-campus unit can only be added up until two weeks after the commencement of the semester in which it is being offered.

Unit withdrawal dates and deadlines for 2008 are outlined in the ‘Principal Dates for 2008’. The Principal Dates for 2008 are found in the Student Resource Guide 2008 which is available online at the following site: http://www.monash.edu.au/pubs/handbooks/srg

Please familiarise yourself with University regulations and policies, taking particular notice of the Principal Dates each year.  It is your responsibility to ensure that you understand the University regulations and are aware of deadlines and potential consequences of inaction.

Re-enrolling for the following year

Re-enrolment generally commences at the start of October.  You will be advised when it is time to re-enrol for the following year with a series of emails to your student email account.  It is essential you follow these instructions and re-enrol by the given dates.  Failure to do so will result in you losing your place in the course and having to re-apply

Enrolling in Summer and Winter units

There are specialist MBA units run in the summer and winter periods, however students can also undertake units from other departments http://www.buseco.monash.edu.au/gsb/current/summer.html

 Please note the short timeline for discontinuing summer and winter units – avoid academic and financial penalty

Exam Timetable

MBA exams are part of the central exam block and are accessible via WES https://my.monash.edu.au/wes/exam_timetable/

Exam periods:

Semester 1: 5-27 June 2008
Semester 2: 23 Oct -14 November 2008

Exam Results

Results can be accessed via WES https://my.monash.edu.au/wes/exam/results/

You may receive your exam results via SMS: To get your exam results sent via SMS to your mobile phone, please register for the service. Registrations for SMS commence during week 13 of the teaching calendar.
