MBA Leadership ProgramThe Monash MBA Leadership Program has been designed to underpin and enhance each student's MBA educational experience. The starting point for developing effective leadership capabilities is self-understanding. This is the theme of the first of four interrelated modules that comprise the MBA Leadership Program.
Module 1 - Personal Skills DevelopmentThe personal skills development module consists of a number of tests and workshops designed to provide insight concerning personal characteristics and the level of generic skills in areas such as problem solving, critical thinking, report writing and interpersonal understandings. It is mandatory for all commencing MBA students and it is conducted over two successive weekends immediately prior to the commencement of the core curriculum. This information provides a starting point for the purpose of each student’s career development planning and associated choice of electives or professional tracks of study. The generic skills component of the personal skills development module provides two very important pieces of information. First, it provides each student with benchmarking information thereby highlighting areas of generic skills that they need to enhance during the course of their MBA studies. Secondly, generic skill enhancement becomes an integral part of the learning objectives that are established for the MBA program and each individual unit within it. Module 2 - MBA Leadership ForumsThe MBA leadership forums consist of a series where prominent Australian and international organisational leaders share insights with Monash MBA students and MBA alumni about the challenges they have encountered during their careers. These forums are scheduled throughout the year and during the course of their studies MBA students are required to attend a minimum of five forums. Module 3 - MBA Leadership WorkshopsThe MBA leadership workshops consist of two full-day workshops – Enhancing your leadership skills: An experiential approach. Students are required to participate in each of these highly interactive workshops. Module 4 - MBA Career Management ProgramThe career management program is an ongoing program of career development planning and management. MBA students work with the careers development manager throughout their MBA program to develop their own individual strategies for meeting their career objectives. |
