Frequently asked questionsCan the MBA be taken on either a part-time or full-time basis?The MBA is offered on a full-time and part-time basis with classes held during the day, in the evening, and as intensive blocks on weekends to accommodate students' different schedules. Please see the current MBA timetable for more information. Is the Monash MBA offered by correspondence or over the internet?No. It is our belief that the interactivity and dynamic of face-to-face learning is an important part of the MBA experience. However some MBA electives are available by distance education or over the internet. What would the time commitment be for a student undertaking the Monash MBA part-time?
Over what timeframe must the MBA be completed?Full time normally takes 20-24 months, however it is possible to reduce the time taken and to accelerate progression through the course by taking units in the summer and/or winter schools. Maximum allowed time to complete an MBA single degree is six years, and seven years for an MBA double degree. Please see the Monash course structure policy for further information. Are there any intermediate awards from the MBA program?Monash University does not provide intermediate awards to the MBA. That is, there are no awards such as executive or graduate certificates and diplomas as part of a progression towards the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.However, Monash University does provide an exit award in the form of a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration if you wish to withdraw from the MBA. The academic requirements to be eligible for this exit award are that you must have completed any eight (8) of the ten (10) Monash MBA core units. A student awarded a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration is not eligible to re-apply for the Monash MBA for a period of 2 years from the time of graduation. If selected for the MBA program, the applicant will be eligible for credits according to the credit policy current at the time of enrolment. For international students seeking Permanent Residency, Monash MBA Programs will issue a letter stating that you have met the academic requirements for a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration by completing 8 MBA core units over a full-time academic year of study. (This means 8 MBA core units with no exceptions). What are the semester datesSpecific dates understandably change from year to year.
