Monash MBA Leadership Program Certificate

The four modules of the Leadership Program are designed to specifically address key themes throughout the course and build a cohesive program of personal and professional development.

Leadership certificate

Module 1 – The Personal Skills Development (PSD) module runs over two weekends prior to the commencement of the MBA. Sessions cover leadership capabilities such as presentation, analytical and teamwork skills, as well as psychometric and generic skills assessments. Psychometric testing evaluates individual personality profiles and leadership preferences. On the final day of the module, during a comprehensive feedback session, you will receive the following reports: a personality assessment, leadership and management preferences, your subordinate style, career and work style themes and Myer-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) preferences. The generic skills assessment is also completed during the PSD to assess your skills in report writing, critical thinking, problem solving and interpersonal understanding. You will receive this report within a few weeks of your first semester of study. This information provides a starting point for individual career planning and ensures that each MBA program is personalised to match specific career goals. The Personal Skills Development Module is a core requirement of the MBA Program at Monash.

Module 2 – Leadership Forums comprise a series of presentations from prominent leaders of Australian and international organisations who provide insights into the challenges they have met during their careers. The forums are typically conducted as breakfast events and MBA students are required to participate in a minimum of five forums during the course of their studies.

Module 3 – Leadership Workshops are designed to enhance your leadership capabilities and are scheduled twice a year. Participants can undertake the following one-day workshops:

  • Enhancing your Leadership Skills, an Experiential Workshop
  • Productive Thinking and Business Innovation or, alternatively may undertake MBA9001 Managerial and Leadership Skills.

Module 4 – Professional and Career Development workshops are offered throughout the year. The two initial MBA Career Workshops are required for all students.

The first, Introduction to Career Management is offered in conjunction with the PSD in Module 1. Exploring your Professional Objectives is available in semesters 1 and 2 of each year. In addition to the MBA Career Workshops, students also have access to a range of resources outlined on the following page.
