MBA Career Workshops

The MBA Career Workshops have been designed and are facilitated by Lee Hecht Harrison (LHH), a global leader in creating and delivering customized human capital solutions. Australia’s most respected companies and institutions turn to Lee Hecht Harrison to assist in managing organisational change, career transition or leadership and career coaching. The workshops are two to three hours long, offered at several dates and times throughout the year, to small groups of up 12 students.

To be eligible for the Monash MBA Leadership Program Certificate you need to complete the following two (2) MBA Career Workshops:

MBA students can continue their professional and career development by attending six (6) advanced MBA Career Workshops which are offered throughout the year:

Introduction to Career Management
In this two-hour long workshop a Lee Hecht Harrison consultant will work with a group of up to 12 MBA students, focusing on the following topics:

• What is career management?
• The career management process
• The career initiative snapshot
• Person – Know your strengths: How am I unique?
• Performance – Know your reputation: What are my capabilities?
• Possibilities – Set SMART goals: What are my aspirations?
• Plan – Develop an action plan: How can I accelerate my learning?

Introduction to Career Management is offered in conjunction with Module 1 (Personal Skills Development) of the MBA Leadership Program. Module 1 is offered during the two weekends before the start of the MBA program, and is compulsory for all new MBA students. Exploring Your Professional Objective
This three-hour workshop is compulsory to all MBA students, and is a requirement for receiving the Monash MBA Leadership Program Certificate. To ensure students will be able to do it, the workshop is offered nine times during the year. In this workshop a Lee Hecht Harrison consultant will work with a group of up to 12 MBA students, focusing on the following topics:

• Exploring your professional objective
• Career fit
• Creating your career vision
• Assessing your personal values
• Personal values
• Confirming your personal characteristics
• Identifying accomplishments
• Summary of self assessment
• My career plan

Differentiate Yourself in the Marketplace
In this one day workshop a Lee Hecht Harrison consultant will work with a group of up to 20 MBA students, focusing on the following topics:

• Survey your professional environment
• Create your communications strategy and resume, including formats, samples, statement writing
• Networking, including types of meeting, target contacts and network mapping
• Interview Skills, including tips on preparation and behaviour interviewing

In this three-hour long workshop a Lee Hecht Harrison consultant will work with a group of up to 12 MBA students, focusing on the following topics:

• Guidelines for interviewing
• Behavioural Interviewing
• Identifying accomplishments
• Developing your accomplishments stories
• Asking the right questions
• The negotiating process

• Constructing your resume
